Everyday Water Solutions

“Oh, I wish I had a river, I could skate away on,” lamented legendary singer/songwriter Joni Mitchell.
That sentiment is a true one. When it comes to water, we are always left wanting. It’s a part of our daily lives that we easily take for granted, yet is crucial for “stayin’ alive”, like the Bee Gees once sang.
Smart, preparedness-minded people like you, however, do think about their water needs. Both for today and for tomorrow.
I want to share with you some tried and tested methods for cleaning your water. And for keeping water at hand. Even if the infrastructures we rely on so heavily fail.
But first, some facts:
- A person cannot live more than three days without water. Neither can most animals (that includes our beloved pets).
- We have been told by emergency management organizations that a person needs 1 gallon of water a day. Those with a preparedness mindset will plan for 3 gallons of water per person per day. For drinking, making our foods, and for our hygiene.
- These days, most water we come in contact with is not just two parts hydrogen and one part oxygen (H2O). That is both very good and terribly bad. We’ll get to that in a minute.
- Fact, not fear tactic: our national water infrastructure is failing. This is because it is one of the most neglected of all infrastructures - outdated and not up to technology standards. Just read the news and you'll see what I mean.
- Water is scarce. Just like a garden in which the more vegetables you plant the more water you need. So too, with more people inhabiting Earth than ever before, our water needs have grown. Yet no one is making more water. It’s a commodity.
These facts make it imperative that we take control of our own water needs TODAY!
Hi, my name is Morgan, a Preparedness Consultant here at 4Patriots. I work with people every day to create proper preparedness plans. I am also the lead instructor of all of our water filtration, storage, and catchment online courses. You can find these free classes here: 4patriotsuniversity.com.
As a company founded on the mission of offering tools to help every American prepare for whatever may come, we would be remiss if we did not address this key aspect of, not only your survival, but your “Thrival”(™): Water.
Clear Water Is Not Clean Water
Typically, when we think of water, we think of a sparkling, thirst-quenching, clear substance. Cold and refreshing or hot and comforting, like a cup of tea.
We stay away from drinking or swimming in murky, muddy waters. As well as retention ponds and drainage ditches. We consider them contaminated, based on what we can see.
BUT, the truth is, even that clear water flowing from the convenient tap in your family kitchen, your bathroom tub, and your well, could be just as dirty. Remember, even the toilet water in a gas station bathroom is clear. Yep, think about that.
Lurking within the H20 molecules are bacteria, viruses, heavy metals, manufacturing byproducts like Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC’s), Styrene (remember the Palestine, Ohio train derailment?), and PFAS (forever chemicals).
Not to mention microplastics, hormones, and what I like to call O.P.P. “Other People’s Pharmaceuticals.” I’m not down with that (props to Naughty by Nature).
While typically bacteria and viruses are “cleaned” out of tap water through your local wastewater treatment facility, drugs, hormones, PFAS, other man-made byproducts, and microplastics are not. Oh yes, let’s not forget Chlorine. It’s in there, too.
While regulatory agencies, like the Environment Protection Agency (EPA) work to clean up our water, there are blurred lines and ever-changing standards between MCL’s (Maximum Contamination Level) allowed and MCG’s (Maximum Contamination Goal) in a perfect world.
Don’t know what any of these are? That’s OK. All that matters is that they are bad for you and your health. You and I don’t have to wait on a hurricane to flood our water systems. Or a toxic chemical spill to incite a “Do Not Drink” Advisory - The Emergency is NOW.
So, just like the Doobie Brothers, let’s tell that “old black water” to “keep on rolling” away from us. We don’t want it here.

So, what do I do about it?
While I prepare for whatever may come in the future - an event that could take the grid down, an economic collapse, a natural disaster - I am not simply storing my water filtration away for a rainy day. I am using it today. This does two things for me:
1. It gets me cleaner, safer water for my family, my chihuahua, and my big lazy cat TODAY, and…
2. By using the system, I have become familiar with it. That means I don’t find myself in a panic over how to use it in a SHTF scenario. High Five for building skills!
The use of a gravity-fed home water filtration system is crucial to my daily water plan. That’s because I do not have to rely on electricity to get the job done.
Many rely on whole home water filtration systems. That’s good for today, but will not serve for long in a grid failure. If you didn’t know, your tap relies on electricity to power pumps to push the water through the pipes and out of your faucet.
Not all filters are created equal.
I am very picky about the filter I use in my gravity system. I want to make sure that it does, in fact, remove as many of those nasty little microscopic contaminants as I need it too.
Not all filters are the same. Some are only designed to remove larger contaminants. Rather than the really small ones that can actually do quite a bit of harm.
There are many options on the market. So it is important to know what a filter does and does not do. The National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) sets the gold standard when it comes to water filtration.
Given the state of our water, I will settle for nothing less. So here is my recommendation to you: Look for NSF certifications on any water filter you are considering investing in.
The three key certifications are:
NSF 42 - (for better taste and smell) Chlorine, taste and odor, chloramine, iron, manganese, and zinc, among others.
NSF 53 - This standard offers over 50 contaminant reduction claims. Some of the most popular include: lead, cryptosporidium, VOCs, PFOA, PFOAS, and chromium.
NSF 401 - which targets new contaminants. This standard offers up to 15 specific contaminant reduction claims. Some of the most popular categories include prescription drugs and over-the-counter medications. Plus herbicides, pesticides, and chemical compounds.
4Patriots’ Nanomesh filters meet all of the above mentioned stringent testing requirements. And are certified (when used with the Ultimate Water Filtration System) in these three categories. I won’t settle for less.

So remember, the water emergency is happening right now. The 4Patriots Ultimate Water Filtration System is your best solution for daily use. And also for emergency use.
The 4Patriots Nanomesh filter is a superior choice for filtration. Be selective about the water filter you use to make your water cleaner and safer. There is a significant difference between products on the market today.
Don’t cut corners when it comes to your family’s safety and security. Preparedness is proactive. Let’s Thrive Today, Together.
This is the first in a series of water-related articles. Be prepared for my next post, in which I’ll discuss water storage - the right amount and proper way to store water for all of your family’s needs. In the meantime, join me live on April 23 at 6 pm CDT for 4Patriots University’s Water Solutions Class. It’s free for you as a customer! I really hope to see you there.
