The solar panel is designed to be a backup charging method. Charging via solar takes up to 40 hours.* Charge time will vary depending on lighting conditions.
Why is the solar charge time longer?
Even in perfect laboratory conditions, the efficiency of energy transformation from solar to electric energy is low. And in normal everyday conditions, your charge time will vary based on the sunlight available.
And keep in mind… size matters! The solar panel on the Patriot Power Cell fits in your pocket. It’s 4” tall x 2.25” wide. So while it’s powerful and efficient… its power is obviously limited by its surface area.
Sure, we could have designed a solar cell the size of a dinner plate. But who can fit a dinner plate in their pocket? We think the charge time is worth it, to have a solar power source that can truly go anywhere with you, and that is totally covert.
