You’ll need to charge your Talk-N-GO Rechargeable Walkie Talkies before use. Make sure each unit is powered “off” before charging. You can charge the built-in lithium-polymer battery with either the included USB cord or the desktop charger. Do not overcharge, as this can weaken the battery’s performance.
Once both units are fully charged, test out your Talk-N-GO Walkie Talkies by powering them on, then pressing the “PTT” (Push To Talk) button, located on the side. Adjust the volume with the arrow keys, located on the front. The display screen on the front of the unit will let you know which channel you’re currently using.
Remember, in order for your Walkie Talkies to communicate with one another, they must be on the same channel.
Find additional broadcast channels by briefly pressing the center button, then use the arrow keys on either side to browse channels.
Your Talk-N-Go Walkie Talkies have a long list of features to help keep your communications covert.
Note: your Walkie Talkie’s front display screen will let you know which function you are currently using (see below):
- UHF(400-470MHz) Super Receiving: indicates the Ultra-High Frequency range your Walkie Talkies use to communicate.
- Screen Display: shows which mode/function you are currently using.
- Scanning: scan for other channels with the push of a button.
- Monitoring: enter monitor mode or begin the TOT (Time Out Timer) which restricts the time any one user has access to your channel.
- Button Lock: lock the buttons on your walkie talkie.
- Power Display: a short press of the power button shows current battery life.
- Busy Channel Lockout: prevents other transceivers from accessing your channel
- High-Mid-Low Power Selection: programmable for each unit depending on usage
- Power Saving Mode: when your unit is idle for a period of time, it will automatically switch into battery saving mode.
- Low Battery Warning: voice prompt alerts you to low battery life and the need to recharge. Keep batteries fully charged for optimal performance.
- 50 CTCSS/208 DCS: your unit has 50 CTCSS (Continuous Tone Squelch System) and 208 DCS. CTCSS adds a low frequency audio tone below 300 Hz to voices on a shared radio frequency channel. It mutes other users to prevent interference. DCS (Digital-Coded Squelch) works in the same way but using digital data or code words, and DCS covers a greater range of frequencies.
- CDCSS (special signaling): stands for Continuous Digital-Coded Squelch System. You can choose “normal signaling” for ordinary CDCSS codes to protect your communications or “special signaling” which indicates enhanced processed codes that give your communications an extra level of protection from outside interference.
