None needed. The meat is fully cooked inside the can, so it's just open, heat and eat. If you don't have a way to heat it, you can eat it right out of the can. Keep a separate supply of drinking water on hand for hydration.

Store the cans in a cool, dry place away from heat and moisture, and keep them sealed until you need them. Avoid prolonged exposure to temperatures above 75°F, and don't use a can that's dented or damaged. A pantry, closet or basement shelf works well for keeping them ready.

The up-to-15-year shelf life applies to unopened, undamaged cans stored properly. Once you open a can, treat it like any cooked meat: keep it refrigerated and use it within a few days. Be sure the can is undamaged before opening.
