Quick Start Guide for Your Patriot Power Generator

Good news: you made the right choice to better protect yourself and your family in the event of a blackout. 

And when you made the decision to get your Patriot Power Generator 1800... you also entered the 4Patriots community. Where it's our mission to make sure you're prepared when SHTF.

So first things first, how do you get your Patriot Power Generator up and running in no time? 

Well, please know that your solar generator arrives charged and ready to go. There’s no assembly required… you can start using it right away.

I've put together a quick start guide for you, so that you're fully prepared when your solar generator hits your doorstep. You can download the guide, right here. 

First, though, I’m hoping you’ll watch this short unboxing video. Our own Danielle will literally unpack the new 1800 while she describes what it can do.

You’ll get to see exactly what it looks like and how easy it is to set it up. And you’ll also understand why we say it’s worth its weight in gold.

How to Charge Your Patriot Power Generator:

Once you are ready to recharge the unit, you can do it your way -- it’s totally your call:

  • “Fast charge” with the included AC cord
  • Charge for FREE with the sun, using the included solar panel
  • And thanks to the MPPT technology, now you can charge with a hand-crank, bicycle, wind turbine, windmill — whatever!

Not sure how to charge using the solar panel? No need to worry… It's as easy as 1... 2... 3!

  1. Open the (included) solar panel and place outdoors in direct sunlight.
  2. Connect the solar panel to the DC inputs on the back of the unit via the solar connector cord.
  3. Leave the unit to charge for as long as the sun is up. The unit does not need to be powered on to charge, and will stop charging automatically when full.

Do This BEFORE an Emergency Hits:

We’ve put together a quick checklist of things to run through once your new solar generator arrives.

  • Test out your new solar generator and power a few items. Try to power a lamp, charge a phone, etc. to get familiar with it. 
  • Practice charging your generator with the solar panels.

How to Store Your Patriot Power Generator:

And when deciding where to store your solar generator and accessories, ask yourself these questions:

  • Is your generator somewhere where you could access it easily even if the lights were out at night and it was dark?
  • Is your generator stored off of the floor in case of flooding?
  • Do you have the instructions and manual handy in case you need to refer to it?
  • Is your solar panel(s) and power cord nearby and accessible? Not buried underneath a mountain of bricks?

**We also suggest topping off the charge on your solar generator every 6 months to ensure it's full and ready to go when you need it. **

    Just ordered the 1800/generator. I have a gas generator but at 83 years old with health problems if the power goes out I’m not strong enough to get it outside and start it up. I’m on oxygen 24/7, that’s why I ordered the generator from you. I now don’t have to worry about not having oxygen. If I do lose power in the winter it gets very cold at night will be able to run the heater, also. I will have peace of mind now.

    I live in a town where we rarely lose our power. In the 20 years that I have lived here the longest we lost our power was for 10 hours. However, with the current state of our nation and my state, and my lack of confidence in both, I decided to “beef up” my emergency plan, and that included planning for longer power outages, maybe even for days, or weeks. The PPG 1800 is one “tool” in my tool kit. I plugged it into my refridgerator/freezer as soon as I took it out of the box, and with normal fridge use the generator ran my fridge for 6 hours. I then recharged the PPG 1800 using a wall outlet, and then plugged in the fridge again and the PPG 1800 ran for 8.15 hours. My next step is to attach the solar panels and get familiar with charging times and how it will do with the refridgerator/freezer plugged in, and to better understand “cycling” . As I read through many comments, 4 Patriots information, and Facebook posts, I noted many people said, “practice and be familiar with the equipment.” I feel confident I can comfortably survive an extended power outage and through adequate planning will not lose any valuable food, will have heat, lights, and a charged cell phone.

    On another note, I have the Halo XT tactical solar flashlight. I had it sitting on my pickup one day and the flashlight fell off onto the cement parking pad. Amazingly enough the flashlight still works! I like that the flashlight is sturdy and the window breaker could be used for self-defense if needed.

    I have other 4P products, and have been happy with all of them.

    I ordered the 1800 generator and then became nervous about spending so much money and wondering if as a senior lady living alone I could manage this so I called to cancel my order. Usually this is a hassle but in this case the customer service lady went out of her way to cancel in spite of the order just having shipped. She was so kind that I decided to call back with my concerns and spoke with her again. She was so understanding and patient and kind and spent a lot of time with me while I shared all of my concerns. After all my questions had been taken care of I felt so confident that I reordered.     I’m excited to receive my generator 1800.My daughters family was staying at my home for a funeral and Christmas.I have a finished off basement/family room .My grandchildren slept downstairs with a heater on because Michigan is getting cold here.Well got my gas/electric bill yesterday and it was double the price.Bedside the point electric going up in Jan. 2021.I’m going to use my 1800 to cut down some of the cost.🤞🏻

    Over a year and a half ago, early morning of Labor day, 2018, My son called me at 4 am , Dad I heard a funny noise and just lost half the power in my house, by the time I got there with what I thought I would need, the rest of his house was dark, I got out my Patriot Gen. brought into the house next to the fridge and plugged in, Nearly 20 hrs later after he finally found an electrician, and run a new service on top of the ground He had a temporary service, Yes, he lost his underground service Two weeks later the electrical contractor had his new service in.
