Personal Alarm Beats a Smart Phone When You Need Help in a Hurry

Most of us are so used to carrying our mobile phone around with us these days, we wonder how we ever survived without it.

How did our parents keep track of us when we were kids? How did we connect with friends to tell them when and where to meet us when we were teenagers?

How did we find our way while driving to a vacation destination during our early adulthood?

And as we aged, how did we keep up with the news when we were away from home? And not near a radio or television?

Does your phone make you feel secure?

The smart phone has changed all of our lives significantly. It serves many purposes and gives us a sense of security we never had before.

But are we really “secure” just because we have a smart phone in our pocket or purse? For example, are we certain we can call someone quickly enough to get help if we suddenly need it? In every situation?

And even if we are able to connect with someone in a hurry with our smart phones, would a needed rescue come in time?

Smart phones are awesome. I wouldn’t want to be without one. But if I need to thwart a potential attack, I want something that will help me immediately. Not 5, 10, 30 or 60 minutes later.

An essential item to carry

I’m talking about a personal alarm. I’m talking about something so loud that it could scare off a potential assailant before he tries anything.

I’m talking about something that has a number of different features to it. And that’s very easy to use.

I’d like to spend a few minutes telling you how a personal alarm is just as much of an essential item to have with you at all times as a smart phone is.

In fact, it might just save your life in some situations where your cellphone could not.

Your phone might fall short

One disadvantage in trying to use a cellphone when you need help in a hurry is that you could be in a very stressful situation.

And when you’re stressed out, you may not remember your PIN quickly enough to unlock your phone in time.

Another potential problem with depending on a cellphone is that you might not be able to get a signal.Depending on where you are, you could be out of range. In addition, your smart phone battery probably won’t last as long as a personal alarm battery.

 Loud and long

If I’ve convinced you to look into getting a personal alarm for yourself – not to mention your spouse, children and grandchildren – let me tell you some of the features you should look for.

You want a personal alarm that fits on your keychain. That will give you easy access to it when it’s needed.

You want something very loud. One hundred decibels minimum. Both to scare off the potential attacker and alert people in the vicinity who might come to your aid.

You want an alarm that can last for a while. Not just a quick burst of sound that will quickly be forgotten. But rather, 20, 30, 40 minutes or more.

 Peace of mind

You want a personal alarm that includes an LED flashlight. And something that also provides a strobe effect to gain additional attention.

And finally, you want something that is legal to use in all 50 states. Not just where you live, but everywhere across the country. That way you can legally take it with you when you travel.

As I said, smart phones are great. And for most issues you might face, they are adequate to help you.

But when you need help in a hurry, there’s nothing like a personal alarm. It will give you peace of mind that a phone never could.

I get that the alarm will stun a bad guy, but what about my ears too? Wouldn’t an alarm this loud also stun me even though I am instigating it? Just curious if anyone has used it and what effect it had on them.
